Need To Know Parking, Boarding, and Accomodations

Parking

Parking and boarding for the Lake Placid Limited takes place at 900 W C Owen Ave, Clewiston, FL 33440. Detailed parking and boarding instructions are emailed to you with your ticket confirmation.

Accommodations

Due to its historic design, Sugar Express is not ADA-accessible. The excursion cars feature steep steps, narrow hallways and doorways, and small restrooms, which may pose challenges for guests with limited mobility. Passengers with limited mobility need to be aware of these limitations and should expect such situations, and should contact us for planning and accommodations.

Safety

Due to the unique railroad environment passengers travel in, all guests must wear sturdy, comfortable shoes, and should not wear flip-flops, sandals, or open-toed or high-heeled shoes. Boarding and detraining sites may have uneven footing, large heavy gravel, and high steps, and walking is required at all locations. By purchasing and attending, you agree to review and accept our terms and conditions at the link below.

Lake Placid The Town of Murals

Upon arrival at Lake Placid's historic railroad depot and home of the Lake Placid Historical Society, guests can explore the farmer's market at Journal Plaza, enjoy live music, and visit the town's locally owned shops, cafes, and restaurants.

A favorite destination of our passengers, Lake Placid is known as both the Caladium Capital of the World and the Town of Murals for its 47 larger-than-life murals. We work with the Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce to welcome trains to this quiet corner of South Central Florida and some businesses often host special hours to accommodate passenger trains. A map of the town and a guide will be provided to you upon boarding.
